A beautiful and historic New England town in the geographic center of Massachusetts, Rutland offers much in the way of community events and resources. Rutlanders lead an active lifestyle, with walking and biking paths, and an active community - see some pictures at the links below highlighting Rutland. Local parks and attractions include The Gardner Museum, The Lucy Stone Home Site, Rutland State Park, Rutland Water Nature Reserve, and the Oxbow National Wildlife Refuge.

Each year, Rutland holds a four-day-long Fourth of July celebration, beginning on July 1. Events include performances by area musicians, a lip-sync concert, chicken barbecue hosted by the local Fire Brigade, a Historical Society Lemonade Social, and an acclaimed fireworks show. On the Fourth, Rutland holds a parade with floats made by local organizations and special guests including local and regional politicians.

Bonnie loves her home town of Rutland, Massachusetts:

"To have grown up in Rutland as a child was wonderful, we could ride our bikes all over the place and we only had to be home when the street lights came on. My sister and I had to be home for dinner each night when my Dad came home from the 'Mom & Pop' grocery store they owned.
During the summers we went swimming, horseback riding, water skiing, and most of all just having fun. The winters our family went skiing, skating, and I had homework and lots of it!
While Rutland has grown, it still maintains the same small New England town charm that I grew up with. We have a wonderful library, two churches, a very active Community Center, Drug Store and lots of community organizations. The 4th of July Parade in Rutland is phenomenal and the Fireworks are just amazing!"
